    About leo mol

  • Born Leonid Molodozhanyn in 1915 in Ukraine, Leo Mol learned to work with clay from his father, a potter.

Although he initially planned to study painting, Mr. Mol chose sculpture instead, which he studied in Leningrad from 1936 to 1940. In 1943 he continued his studies in The Hague, and in December, 1948 Mr. Mol and his wife, Magareth, arrived in Winnipeg.

Since then Mr. Mol has carried out commissions for sculptures and monuments across the globe. The subjects of his sculptures include such prominent historical personalities as Winston Churchill, Pope John Paul II, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and John Diefenbaker. He has also sculpted the human form, wildlife, religious subjects, and sculptures with Ukrainian themes.
